How to display Document name in Title while import

Hi,

I am using webtop 6.5 SP2 and i need to display the document name in the title filed while I import documents.

When ever I try to import document, the document name field should be readonly and the title field should be editable. Whenever the import page pops up the title field should display the document name and the users should be able to edit it.

I was able to achieve this, i.e, I have customized the webtop and the document name is readonly, and title field is editable. but I am not able to display the document name in the title field.

Can anyone help me to achieve this.

In the jsp, you can add new textbox control like you did in the java class. Look in the WDK Development guide on how to instantiate these controls.

You need to customize the importcontent component to read the values from object name and set them to title attribute. You probably can do this simply by customizing the corresponding jsp page.

Correct me If I am wrong about the following statements.

How can we set the value for attribute title in JSP file as the code for attribute title is not present in jsp file.

Even if we try to customize the import.jsp, we cannot use

<dmfx:docbaseattributevalue object="object" attribute="title"/> , since the object_name will not be stored in repository until and unless we click the finish button of import and title should display the object name as soon the import page popsup.

When I checked the import.jsp and ImportContent.java file I found that whenever the import box popsup the object name was first displayed in a temporary text box i.e; using Text textObjectName = getObjectNameTextControl(true);

textObjectName.setValue(strFilename);

then on click of finish it is ben stored in to reposiory.

In importcontent.java file I found that the method

The setNewObjectName() method is called from the ImportProcessor.java and here I found the code which stores the object name i.e,           IDfImportPackageItem item;
         String strName = getNewObjectName();
         item.setObjectName(strName); I found that the object IDfImportPackageItem item has methods only to store object name, format and type. I could trace till here, but could not go any further. Could you please detail how to achieve my requirement i.e, to display object name in title through import.jsp. Thank youNithin

So in component class, get value of textObjectName and assign it to the text box corresponding to Title. You may need to explicitly define the controls than relying on the docbaseattributelist tag.

I tried even that, i.e, Like how the import.jsp had a tempory text box for object name created, I have created a temporary text box for Title

and I was even successful in displaying the object name in Title text box.

Text textDocumentTitle = getDocumentTitleTextControl(true);

textDocumentTitle.setValue(strFilename);

As you can see in the screenshot I have added, The document title is a temporary tile text box I have created and it displays the document name in document title text box as required.

But I am facing problem while storing the value of temporary Title text box in to the title attribute.

I am not able to use the setTitle() method to store the title, as setTitle() method will not be shown, as I mentioned in my previous post

This is where I am facing a problem. I was able to display the object name in the frontend (temporary text box of title), but I am struggling to store this value in the default attribute title.

Is IDfImportPackageItem a method that is part of the component class? If not, you dont need to do this. The import component class already handles this.

Sorry but i am not able to get what you mentioned.

How can the importcomponent class handle to assign the value of temporary title textbox to the default title field.

I tried to import the file and clicked finish the value of temporary textbox title did not get assigned to the default title field automatically.

As you can see the another sceenshot i have uploaded in this post, there are two document title textbox. the first one is the temporary textbox for title i have created, which holds the value of theobject name as I want. The second document title is the default title filed which is blank. To which I want to assign the value of object name.

The package for IDfImportPackageItem is com.documentum.operations.contentpackage.IDfImportPackageItem; This pacake is used in ImportProcessor

An object of IDfImportPackageItem is created in ImportProcessor class and the class ImportProcessor is called in ImportProcessorclass

the method of class ImportProcessor which uses the object of ImportProcessor id

Like I said in my original post, you can also modify the jsp. Now that you have two controls, you should be able to copy the values of the textbox to another textbox as part of onInit() method for the component. You may have to use javascript, but this should be possible.

But I am not able to find the solution in JSP page. You said that it is possible to pass the value of one text box to another. Here in import jsp file there is a code for only two text box.

1 Object Name

2 Document Title( It is the temporary title textbox which I have created)

There is no code for the default field title in the import jsp. Then how can I pass the value.

Could you please help me to avhieve this.
