word document to xml
kish2
Hi
Is it possible to convert a word document into a xml /DCr document to be used in teamsite 6.1 ? what would i have to do? Does perl have anything that does that?
My process involves the user typing content in word and from there somehow converting it to xml or DCRs and using it in teamsite to publish
can anyone give me any ideas if they have done this before
thanks
Kish

There are no direct ways of doing it. I could think of saving the documents into HTML and putting them into DCRs. Also, there are some word2xml converters on the market, however I have not tried any of them. One could also use something like Omnimark to process word docs, to produce some structured text.

Are you looking for a programmatic way to convert the .doc to dcr ?
If you have visual format enabled, your users could copy-paste from word to VF... although I consider this a BAD idea.. goes against the concept of separating content from presentation
MS Word now has a lot of xml capabilities.. never exploited it though..

If you want access over .doc (using perl) then win32:
le might helpful.
I did extensible data mining work with .docs (excude xml). If you want everything by programming (as said).
Thanks Nicholas
