Light Weight Object Type TBO and DCO

Hi All,

We're implementing DCO in our environment currenlty.

We have been able to extend dm_message_archive object type (which is LWType) and been able to import email.

The problem is we want to add some logic to put the emails into the right folder.

Can we achive that by using normal TBO?

I tried to do extend from DfDocument no luck

tried to extend DfPersistentObject as well, but no luck too.

We're using

CS 6.5 SP1

DCO 6.5 SP2

Outlook 2007 SP1

And other question, when we drag and drop emails into Documentum profile in outlook, it will only move our emails from inbox into CS.

Is it any way to copying instead of moving them?

Any advice will be very appreciated

You should extend the MessageArchive class.

This class is not found in dfc.jar but another jar file.

You will need a correct version of Composer if you want to be able to do this (older versions don't support Lightweight Objects)

Yeah you're right. I'm using composer 6.7 which already have light weight object supported.

I've tried to extend that class as well.

But I found this error message in my tomcat log when try to save emails:

We are running into a very similar issue, although within a slightly different environment. Earlier today I detected that error in within the file named MyDOutlookServer.log within the host running WebSphere Application Server. That file was found in the /usr/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/profile1 directory.

We are using My Documentum for Microsoft Outlook 6.6 Patch 09 (MDO / DCO).

We have a TBO associated with the custom message object type. The relevant portion of the custom type hierarchy looks like this:

dm_message_archive > enterprise_msg_type > departmental_msg_type.

We also have the same TBO associated with a custom SysObject type. The relevant portion of that custom type hierarchy looks like this:

dm_document > enterprise_doc_type > departmental_doc_type.

When we try to create an instance of departmental_msg_type via MDO with data the TBO considers valid the object is not created and a collision is reported, which cannot be resolved. When we try to create an instance of departmental_msg_type with data the TBO considers invalid the object is created and a collision is not reported; however, the TBO puts the object in an undesirable Cabinet / Folder location - this is as expected.

When we try to create an instance of departmental_doc_type via MDO with data the TBO considers valid the object is created apparently without problems. The TBO places it in a *good* Cabinet / Folder structure.

I am not sure what the underlying cause of the issues are but I wonder if TBOs in general have issues dealing with Lightweight Object Types (LWOT).

Could you please share any relevant news you find which may be useful, and I will do the same?

Have you launched service request to EMC support team?

I have, but since our license is customer, they don't even bother when we mentioned TBO

Maybe if you have a partner license, they might help you a bit more?

And one more thing is I'm thinking of is there's TBO for dm_message_archive objects (you can find in /System/Modules/TBO/dm_message_archive)

So I think it's possible to create TBO for LWO type but we just have to figure out how

Hi Jose,

I was able to implement TBO right now by modifying dm_message_archive TBO.

I know that this is not a very good solution, but I was so desperate and want to get it done so badly.

So what I did are:

1. Export messageArchiveImpl65.jar into my local from /System/Module/TBO/dm_message_archive...D65

2. Copy MessageArchive.class

3. Use java decompiler to decompile the class.

4. I got a broken jad file, so I did some fixing to fix the jad file from my Eclipse

5. overwrite doSave method. in my case, I put a conditional like below:

if(getTypeName.equals("blabla")) {// do whatever you want to do}

6. Finally put my compiled java class back into the jar.

7. Install dm_message_archive TBO using Composer 6.7 with LWO plugin to overwrite default TBO.

It works well on our environment even though it was hardcoded in the code.

I would recommend you to backup messageArchiveImpl65.jar before you do such a research.
