Yes OD base component can be and *is* normally installed on the same box as TS if you want to use it to deploy stuff from/to TS since it integrates very well with TS

Having said that, let me also say that OD can also be used as a stand alone product.

If you are also installing the Admin-server component then you have an *option* to install it on any other box which has network connectivity with the base server

Take a look into the OD installation manual for details.

thanks...i just installed easy deploy (opendeploy 6.0)..how do i know if i can deploy to my receiver..i tried simulating a deployment.and it failed.
the log error

have set odnode.xml(both base and receiver) also the odbase.xml and odrcvr.xml..

where do i actually define the place to deploy to, in the test.xml file? (the default testing file)

i manage to deploy the test.xml to my receiver successfully but i cant see the file inside my receiver target path.....
thought it is suppose to be in here "C:/Interwoven/OpenDeployNG/tmp"..i dun see a test.xml inside the receiver machine

There are some other log files in OpenDeployNG/log - which you should look at to shed light on what the failure was.

Without that information - we can't help you - and more importantly - you can't help yourself.

i manage to find the problem...i got a client not found error..and it work after i restart the receiver machine....
i have successfuly deployed into C:\Interwoven\OpenDeployNG\tmp ...still doing some testing....will post here

We are installing Opendeploy 6.0.2 receiver on solaris environment where deployment directories are mounted on NAS area. As per the installation instructions we need to install OD recv, OD Admin server and then CS.

As per my understanding with OD all of three are different components and if we install only OD recv even then it should be fine. Please let me know if I am wrong in my understanding. Please share if we you see any issues as part of the installation. We will be upgrading 6.0.2 with SP1 after the installation.

The Admin Server and CSF are, I believe combined as of 6.0.2, and they only need to be installed once for your deployment network (usually on the server where you installed the BaseServer) - so I believe you should only need to install the Receiver on your target server.
