xCP Dev Edition DARs Apps failed to install

Hi,

the installation of xCP Dev Edition on Windows Server 2008 R2 with oracle11g was successful - so far.

After 87% all DAR Applications failed to install. The installer continue the installation and all programs are installed, but some are not functional (e.g Taskspace screenshot).

It is possible to repair my current installation? What was my mistake?

It was installed on a virtual machine - should I install again?

I think this is due to a bug in composer.I had faced the same problem while installing content server. The error occured in our environment was almost the same ,

3 DAR(s) failed to install.

I tried to install this dars manually, but failed again.

Finally I have found out that this problem arose due to composer and after downloading composer patch version I could install this dars.

Try to install this dars manually with composer.

I update the composer and try to install the dar-files manually. I think the previous installations was not successful, because some users are missing in the repository:

Faced this error multiple times.

Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Admin Tools -> Local Security Policy ; Security Settings -> Account Policies -> Password Policy

Disable Password must meet complexity requirements

If this is a virtual machine, I would recommend you to reinstall the application, it only takes 15-20 mins from scratch.

Do prisets work in webtop? I think they should be grayed out.

I guess there are many other problems to.So try what Sumeet posted.

Hi all,

I checked the Windows UAC and Password must meet complexity requirements settings and they are still disabled.

I reinstall the Dev Edition and the DAR component installaion failed.

Error from the install.log:

(Jul 7, 2011 12:36:29 PM), Setup.product.install, com.documentum.install.oem.common.beans.wizard.panel.DiWPOemDestinationPanel, err, Directory for Documentum Content Server and Data: must not contain spaces. Please specify a valid directory.
(Jul 7, 2011 12:36:51 PM), Setup.product.install, com.documentum.install.oem.common.beans.wizard.panel.DiWPOemExistingDatabaseConnection, err, The 'Connection String' field is empty. Please enter a valid value.

The connection string is not empty and has a value without spaces or other special characters. The Repository and DA was created successfully.

I used the host name ISV31 and the local IP Adress. The repository name is xcp02. The serverInstall.log is without any error.

The repositoriy and the documentum admin workes fine.

Any ideas? Thank you!

Ok,

I think I have guessed correct.

There are two reasons.One is prisets.dar file is not installed also.

Do you remember the last time when you tried to install the dars manually it throw another exception.

Owner object (user OR group) 'dmc_wdk_presets_coordinator' not found in the target repository

This exception accured because prisets.dar file is either not available in your repository or it is corrupt.

Please try to re install prisets.dar file if you can.And then check out if the prisets are still grayed out or not.

It is possible that some of the other dar files are also not installed.And the install order matters. If a required dar file is not in the repository you will fail to install another dar which make use of it.

The other problem can be global registry.

Maybe you have not configured global registry correctly.By the way how many repositories do you have?

Check if you have a global registry.

I install the presets.dar files successfully. Repository stop/start and the Presets are still not available.

Restarting repositoy does not solve the problem.Go to application server delete Tomcat\bin\documentum folder and restart it.They should work.

Well, in the xCP dev edition works no tomcat.

I stopped the Service: Documentum Java Method Server. I clear the folder "work" and "temp" from the jboss 4.3.0 directory.

java.exe growed up to 600MB again but the presets are not available

Please take a look at the attached log file from the server. There are more than one error messages about deüploying DAR-files

The other problem can be global registry.
Maybe you have not configured global registry correctly.By the way how many repositories do you have?
Check if you have a global registry.

I have only one repository, called xcp02.

Look at the lines.

Preference repository is not available, reason: Preference Repository is not reachable.

That means either you don't have a global registry or the entries in dfc.properties file are wrong.

Please read documentum administration guide to enable one of your repositories as global registry.

Here is the steps you have to take.

To enable a repository as a global registry:
1. Access Documentum Administrator in a browser and connect to the repository.
2. Click Administration®User Management®Users.
3. Locate the user named dm_bof_registry and click the Information icon.

4. Verify that the user name attribute is set to dm_bof_registry.
The value dm_bof_registry is required.
5. Optionally, change the user login name to a new value.
6. Change the user’s password.
7. Set the dm_bof_registry user’s status to Active.
8. Click Ok to save the user.

9.(SKIP THIS STEP AS YOU HAVE ALREADY INSTALLED DFC )

During DFC installation on client machines, such as the Webtop or Documentum
Administrator hosts, provide the user login name and password.
This updates the dfc.properties file and enables that DFC installation to contact
the global registry as required.

10. To manually modify the dfc.properties file to designate a global registry repository and user credentials:
a. On the DFC host, navigate to $DOCUMENTUM/config (UNIX or Linux) or %DOCUMENTUM%\config (Windows).
b. From a command prompt, execute the following command to generate the encrypted form of the global registry user’s password:
java -cp dfc.jar com.documentum.fc.tools.RegistryPasswordUtils
password_of_user where password_of_user is the global registry user’s clear-text password. In
step d below, you will need to enter the encrypted form of this password in
the dfc.properties file.
c. Open the dfc.properties file in a text editor.
d. Modify the following attributes:

dfc.bof.registry.repository=global_registry_repository_name
dfc.bof.registry.username=user_login_name
dfc.bof.registry.password=encryped_password_of_user

where encryped_password_of_user is the encrypted password you generated in
step b above.

e. Save the dfc.properties file.

After this update dfc.properties on your web application server to (it is located in webtop or da /WEB-INF/classes/config folder)

Clean app server cache restart your app server and then everything should work.

Hi everybody, here are some helpful things from my installation adventure:

create the required roles dmc.wdk_preset_owner and dmc.wdk_preset_coordinator. If these roles are not installed with the preset.dar install the webtop.dar before installing the presets.
document_owner and the dmadmin must be member of these roles
the presets may be grayed out in the webtop but useable
