Archiving Folders and Documents

Hi.. I'm a beginner in Documentum.

I want to archive a folder containing many sub folders and documents in it.

I changed r_current_state of the documents to archived. Even then it is not moving to the specified archive folder path.

Can some one please guide me in moving the folders and documents to Archived state.

What do you mean by archive? Do you want to be moved to offline storage or put under retention?

Hi Johnny,

We want to put these content under retention only.

We want to move it to a location named 'Archived Storage'

What i thought is if i could change the r_current_state of the document to 'Archive' it will automatically move to that folder.

but the r_current_state of the document got changed to 'archive' but still it remains in the same location in the cabinet. Also i want to move the entire folder structure to the 'Archived Storage' location.

- Not unless you have configured 1)lifecycle and 2)lifecycle action to move and 3) finally apply lifecycle to the document. Make sure you actually use promote method to change lifecycle state. DO NOT change r_current_state attribute directly.
