Failing to start DataDeploy - please help

I am attempting to do the initial configuration of DataDeploy in my environment, deploying a DCR (Interwoven-type XML file, not custom XML) to a remote MySQL database. This is a user-defined schema, not flat.

When I run the deployment, the logs indicate that it is able to connect to the database, but it gives an error "Failed to start DataDeploy" without much more explanation.

Does this mean that there is a DD daemon that is not being started correctly? If so, should restarting the OD base server correct that problem?
Or does the "DDnull" entry in the log on the next line mean that I am failing to pass in a required value?

Config, execution command, and resulting log files are in the attached file.

I was kind of having similar issue but no one has helped me out as of yet. I have made some changes in the config file and now the tuples are showing in my log file but then the process die with an exception error.

I noticed something in your data deploy configuration file. I would add a /data on to the end of the path. I am thinking that the logic might not be smart enough to traverse all directories to find your DCRs. It may be expecting there to be a /data path on there.

It turns out that DataDeploy failed to start because I didn't have my primary keys defined.
Once I did define my primary keys, I got the following error:
"ERROR:Exception occured: Values for PK column [brand_id] missing in [templatedata/EnhancedBrand/BrandServices/datacapture.cfg].
com.interwoven.dd100.dd.InvalidSourceTupleException: Values for PK column [brand_id] missing in [templatedata/EnhancedBrand/BrandServices/datacapture.cfg]"

Then, I tried your suggested change, bk99nd, of adding /data to the end of the 'path' element, and that solved this error.

So it looks like the root cause was that it wasn't finding the DCR to deploy. It seems that DD still should have found the DCR eventhough it was in a subdirectory of my specified path because I indicated visit-directory="deep". So I'm not sure what "deep" actually means then, but I am in business.
