Dql query for retrieving custom object types

i am trying to retrieve custom object types with dm_document as parent type using DQL.

i tried with this query.

select DISTINCT b.type_name,b.label_text from dmi_type_info a, dmi_dd_type_info b where any a.r_supertype='dm_document'and b.label_text='Document' and type_name<>'dm_document'

it retrives only the types with label 'Document'

How can i retrive custom-types without the label as 'Document'?

Is there any other query for this?

Just another tidbit to help your understanding of object types, there is no attribute that identifies a type as being system/default vs custom. Hence, you should avoid naming your type 'dm_' as well as some other prefixes (eg dmc_).

Remove your label_text criterion:

i have tried that but it is retrieving all the object types including default types.

The reason is while creating custom types using composer i can manually give the label as 'Document' and if i use DA by default it is assigning the label as 'Document'.

But i am trying to create a custom type using dql in which i cant give the label as 'Document'.

Try this:

select DISTINCT b.type_name,b.label_text from dmi_type_info a, dmi_dd_type_info b where any a.r_supertype='dm_document'and type_name not like 'dm_%'

If you see more default types, add more "not like" filters.

But it wont display the custom object types starting with 'dm_' right?

isnt there any exact query for doing this without hard coding?

It's not very good practice to create custom types (or any other objects) with names starting 'dm_'.

I think i didnt get the answer which i expect. but i wil try not to use 'dm_' in any custom type. Thank you.

I'm afraid your requirements are some contradictory. I think until you change your approach, you will not get the answer which you expect. This is just my point of view

My requirement is to display only custom object types while creating a new documentent in webtop. And normally i dont like to do hard coding. Anyway i got some nice tips to keep in mind. Thank you very much.

Firstly, always explain what your eventual goal is.... i.e. limit webtop to creating custom types

OPTION A) in webtop XML configuration, you can specify the default type to be selected and the base type. Setting these should be sufficent

OPTION Alternatively you can mark types as obsolete in Composer (DOH!!!, Composer is missing feature that DAB had) in Application Builder and it will not appear in new document component.

?? DANG?? What is the ALTER TYPE DQL to mark a type as obsolete? Need this myself!!!

ALTER TYPE my_custom_doc_not_webtop_create SET life_cycle = 3 PUBLISH

OPTION C) DOH!! forgot to mention presets... they can be used to filter what types (documents and folders) are available for creation
