Hi,

In teamsite 6.5 will be possible to delete the DCR and delete the record also in the database.?? Im thinking of writing a custom menu that will trigger the deletion. Is there a other way?

You could handle it through a *fast track* type of workflow

Instead of using Menu Item which hangs on there for every other user to see... it is better to use workflow in which you can configure access rights and also do other things as well... in terms of logging and else.

Isn't this what DAS is for? You could probably setup an event based upon a delete.

It depends.

He hasn't really given us enough information about his database and how he's using the data. But, generally speaking the answer is either going to be DAS, or kickoff datadeploy in a workflow, if he is deleting from his production database.

Basically user will select a DCR and the data of that dcr will be also deleted in the database xml data to databse.

You still haven't made it clear what database you are talking about. How is the database being used? That will help us give you an idea whether you want to use DAS or not. How is your data currently getting into the database?

In either case, yes, there are settings you have to make - you have to have a valid ddcfg for the file, you have to have a valid reference to the database in database.xml, and so on. If you are using DAS, then your event subsystem has to be configured properly as well.

I am interested in this thread. I am using open deploy 6.0 and data deploy 6.0. I find the documentation in the 6.1 manuals to be better than in the 6.0 manuals and haven't found any inconsistencies yet with datadeploy 6.0.

I am performing what is described as a target-side data deployment, specifically a synchronized deployment as described in the Interwoven Database Deployment for OpenDeploy Administration Guide Release 6.1 chapter 5.

We have a mapping of xml to db schema contained in the dbschema.cfg file and the dbschema.cfg also references the unique_id of the table for a primary key. This works reliably for inserts and updates, and deploys the files reliably as well. We are using Oracle as the db, and everything running on Solaris.

We are now at a point to start looking at deletes. I haven't found guidelines or examples on how to do the deletes from the documentation yet. Can someone provide a high-level description or popinter to documentation of how a delete would work in the sychronized deployment scenario?

I am also facing the same problem as described by you.I can update,edit in the database tables.
But when i am deleting a dcr from my data folder then after datadeployment that record is still there in the database table.I want to delete that record from the database table.
How can i achieve that one??? I'll thankful if i'll get reply soon.

I am also facing the same problem. Data deployment works for insert and update. But when i delete the file and submit to STAGING, the data is not deleted in database. As per Data Deployment Administrator Guide, included the delete-tracker="yes"

update type="base" state-field="state" delete-tracker="yes"

But still it is not working. I am using Teamsite 6.5 version.

Could anyone help me to delete the record in database.

After u delete the file. You need to use the workflow that deploy's to database.
