How to keep finished tasks in the user's inbox?

Hi Experts,

I have a requirement to keep completed tasks in the user's inbox, like in the mail.The new tasks should be seen like unread mails and the completed tasks should be seen as read mails.The users should be able to review this tasks later if required.Has anyone done something like that? Please give me some suggestions.

Hi Imran,

I've never done it and I wouldn't do it either. The thing is, the user cannot take any action on these items anyway and the process data might not exist (process terminated) or not represent the state the task was in at the time the user took action on it. And furthermore, the queue item tables rapidly grows as it is and you probably want to have the queue management jobs running to clean it regularly which would remove items from it anyway.

That said, instead you could implement something like a history tab, essentially a folder tab which contains form instances. Each of those form instances could represent the state of the task (or whatever attributes where important) at the time the user took action on it (essentially a datamapper after each manual activity in which you would persist part of the transient process data for the user to view at a later time).

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Hope it helps.

Hi Tord,

Thank you very much for your reply.You are right, there is no point in doing something like that.Completed task sould be removed as the user have nothing to do with them.The document should be archived.For now I have created several folders for each type of the documents.And I copy all required information to the document(including workflow history).
