Html to DCR Conversion

I am working on data migration, converting html files into DCR.
Anybody has some sample code to create DCRs from .html files ?

The concept is pretty simple. Open the html file, parse it, create a new file and write out the formatted xml for the dcr. Then set the dct type EA and you're set.

As far as code goes, I think you'll have to write that yourself, as you're the one getting paid for it. If you have any hang ups while you're writing it, feel free to post the code you're having problems with and I'm sure someone will help you out.

The biggest challenge with this is that HTML pages, generally, are unstructured content - and DCRs are structured content - so the real challenge is going to be figuring out how to parse the unstructured HTML into something that you can then place into a structured DCR.

The trivial method is to make the DCR contain a big visual format textarea and stuff most of the content in the text area (remember that you have to entitize [for lack of a better word] the HTML code before storing it in the DCR -- read the Perldoc for HTML::Entities)

You make it sound soooooo easy. As Ghoti pointed out, it all depends on how well structured your content it.

I am going through that exercise and it is tough.

One thing to look for is bang for the buck. How many DCRs can you create with one script ? If you have 20 pages that will go to one DCR, cut and paste. If you have 500 pages going to 25 DCRs, hire a temp to cut and paste. 500 pages to 1 DCR (meaning 1 script) is doable IF the HTML is reasonably structured.
