Getting Button name and type in custom Adaptor

HI ,

Am using form builder 6.6

I have a requirement where i need to find the name of the button that the user clicked in my Adaptor class .

There are (Submit,Close,Save ) button on the form .

Is this possible to get the button controls values with adaptors .

That would be really useful, but afaik it is not possible to get the name (trigger) of the button from within adaptor code.

What are you trying to do? Maybe there is some other way to solve your problem.

I want to set a value for a process variable on click of a button .

I have 4 button like (Store ,Trash ....) .

Based on the button clicked i need to map the button name in the process variable , and then based on this process variable next activity is decided in the workflow .

Hi Srini,

I suggest you use the finish button and a dropdown list which contains the action (Store, Trash, etc) and let that decide what action to take after the user has finished the task.

You can't do that OOTB. I would talk to the requirement owner and see if the dropdown approach is valid.

If you absolutely have to have buttons, you can solve it with a two button click approach.

Create a hidden textfield which stores the chosen action.
Create an invoke button for each action, the invoke button can use the Echo xCelerator to copy a value into the chosen action.
Add a rule to each button which disables it if the chosen action is the same as the one the button represents.
The finish button is clicked when the user is done with the task.

Not as simple nor as elegant as the drop down approach but only using buttons.

The other approach is to use the default OOTB mechanism of selecting the next task, but if a dropdown is too much then the dialog box is probably considered too much as well.

I have created a text field which will be hidden (Text Field1) and Invoke .

But in my Invoke button ' Input Parameters ' am not able to see Submit control to map Text field .

Please let me know how can i map submit button to text field in invoke button Input Parameters.

You will create 1 invoke button per action and hard code the input parameter value for each button, as shown below:

This will be looking odd for the user to have two button clicks for one action .

Also when the user clicks first on one button 'Submit ' and that means before clicking the second submit invoke button the form will be submitted .

That is why I suggested a dropdownlist, and then you said buttons are a must.

It won't be as bad as you describe though, since after choosing action you can hide the action field, and before the user has chosen action you can hide the submit button.

So, in practice it could look like this:

Where:

User has not chosen an action so finish button is hidden and the user cannot finish the task.
User has chosen an action (Action2) so that button is hidden but the Finish button is visible so the user can finish the task.
User has chosen another action (Action4) so now Action2 is visible and the Finish button is too.

Makes sense?

I have two Doc View forms in a single Task Form .

If i apply rule to one Docview form ,the same rule is Overlapping (applied /copied Automatically) to other Doc view form ,

Since Two doc view forms are mapped to Same Data Binding . ( If am not wrong all the doc view forms should be mapped to same Package ID )

When i create rule for one docview in the taskform the same rule is getting created for secod Docview form also .

I want to create seperate rules for each doc view form inside Task form.

My Requirement :

I have 12 departments with one DocView form each (total 12 DocView forms)

I have 1 Process with One Task Form .

So I need to embed 12 Doc view forms in Single Task form and shown the DocView Form to the user based on Department ID instead of showing all the 12 Docview forms to the user .

If the user belongs to Department 1 the DocView Form 1 Should only be shown and others should be hidden .

If the user belongs to Department 12 the DocView Form 12 Should only be shown and others should be hidden
