Teamsite 6.5 SP2 - PostInstallation instructions

IWguy

I installed Teamsite 6.5 SP2 on a Solaris 8 box and when I performed the post installation instructions where you merge the differences between http.conf.template with http.conf.template.example (followed by a merge of rewrite.conf.template and rewrite.conf.template.example) and then do a iwreset -ui, I received the following output.

**************
Resetting iwserver. This operation takes some time
Please wait...
Resetting UI. This operation takes some time

Performing /apps/interwoven/iw-home/private/bin/iwuiboot stop ...
Interwoven Servlet Engine stopping ...

"/usrbin/env - no such file or directory"
Performing /apps/interwoven/iw-home/private/bin/iwuiboot start ...
Interwoven Proxy Server starting ...
Interwoven Servlet Engine starting ...

To solve this problem I put the following path in the root profile "/apps/interwoven/iw-home/iw-perl/bin". This is probably not the best fix but I RTM and did not find any mention of it.

Is there a better solution for this?

Thanks
/Darcy

While merging the configuration, the path messed up.
I would assume the above error is in the iwwebd_conf.ipl

Hi all,

I don't get how not more ppl report on this!?

We're having the same problem on Solaris 9, which appears to be a BUG introduced with 6.5 SP2, and not fixed in the latest patch 62533

iwwebd_conf.ipl is the script that translated a bunch of *.conf.template files to *.conf, and is therefore essential.

Here's a comparison (IWHOME = /extra/app/gwts/iw-home)

#root@sdas0003:IWHOME/../iwinstall# diff ./modules/iwwebd/SP6.5.0.2/backup/iw-webd/bin/iwwebd_conf.ipl ./modules/iwwebd/SP6.5.0.2/Patch62533/backup/iw-webd/bin/iwwebd_conf.ipl
1c1
< #!/extra/app/gwts/iw-home/iw-perl/bin/iwperl -w
---
> #!/usr/bin/env iwperl -w
9a10
> #

So in base version TS6.5 the first line of the iwwebd_conf script correctly points at IWHOME/iw-perl/bin/iwperl, while the TS6.5 SP2 version of that script points to "iwperl" just like that.

I have seen this happen on other releases. For some reason the installer chokes on substituing the path to perl in one or more of the perl scripts. I have just fixed it and moved on.

You may want to run this command:

find /extra/app/gwts/iw-home/ -name "*.ipl" -exec grep -l /usr/bin/env {} \;

That should print out any other perl scripts with this error.

Frederik

Thanks for the suggestion, nipper. Will mark that in our installation checklist. I also filed a support case for this.

FYI,

the newest patch to TS65 SP2 (patch ID 1632), seems to include a bugfix for this. I'm not in a position where I can test this patch atm.

On Solaris, munge the first line of iw-home/bin/iwwebd_conf.ipl to point to iwperl. Platform(s): Solaris
