CGI in Workflow
Nissan
Hi,
I need to do a test for an requirement. The requirement is as follows:
task 1: Start workflow (CGI task)
task 2: Externall task - send email to a group with 1 link pointing to an independent cgi.
task 3: Group task
task 4: CGI task
task 5: End workflow
task 1 attaches a dcr and sends an email to a group.
task 2 the email contain just 1 link. (works till here)
This link should point to an independent cgi which should basically trasition to the next task(ie the CGI task) without allowing the user to go to teamsite, then take the ownership of the task and then transition to the next cgi task.
In task 3, any one from the group clicks on the link in the email which should transition them to the next task ie CGI task.
So, this link should point to an independent cgi to which the user id and all other parameters should be passed and then transition them on to the next task.
So, is there a way to do this.
Regards

If you search back through the forums, I believe you might be able to find some posts from Smitty wherein he describes a process somewhat similar in that he had javascript in the email - or perhaps a CGI program that sent email back to a programmatically monitored mailbox and would periodically process the email to find the information it needed (jobid, taskid, userid, whatever) and then - running as a TeamSite 'master' user [e.g. root / Administrator] would then run the necessary commands to perform the desired actions.
This would probably be classified under the heading of "complex customizations" - so expect to do quite a bit of coding and exploration on this.
