navigate to folder problem

Hello,

I am trying to navigate to a certain folder when I click on a button in my menubar.

     public void onQuickJump(Control control, ArgumentList args)

ApplicationNavigation.navigateToFolderId(this, "0b0228d08000d507");

This works but it navigates inside the menu bar. In other words it loads the folder in the small space where the menu bar is.

I want it to load in the main content area where you see the list of documents!

I believe the parameter "this" is the issue. How can use the main objectlist area as the component to navigate into ??

Hi.

Why try to code something that already exists ?

When you select a folder, and send click on menu File --> Open, the folder is opened.

Do the same thing and everything will work fine.

Moreover, your action must be on client side. otherwise, the menubar is refreshed (as you saw) and event if you succedded to refresh the central component, all actions in the menubar will be enabled.

I'm doing it like this because I need to calculate the folder r_object_id by doing a query. It's not just a simple open folder action. Are you saying I should still just use file -> open action and run it client side? if so where do I do my query to calculate the correct r_object_id?

Does it depends on the current location, the user ?

But in any case, I suggest you to make a new action, lets say myCustomView, that will extends the action "view" for type "dm_folder" (check webtop/config/dm_folder_actions.xml) and just change the execution class. Your new class will extends com.documentum.webtop.webcomponent.actions, and do everything you want in the execution function. When you have your target id, update the value in the arguments list, and call the parent function.

Then you are done.

The query is very simple. It's a select r_object_id from custom_folder where 'custom attribute' = [value entered by user];

The value entered by the user is entered in a text box and shoud be passed to the action:

Hi.

Ok, this is a little bit different then, because the action depends on user selection....

Your action should not be scoped to folder. Otherwise you could not access it throw search results for example, neither from myFiles display.

One small remark on your XML definition. You do not have to write node you do not change. In your cases, onle write the execution node, everything else comes from the extension.

Check how menu items works, this will give you good example

For my part, I will try to find a way to achieve this and if found... post the code
