OD base on windows and OD receiver on Solaris
jeetu
HI ,
is there any other configurations that needs to be done for Opendeploy.
Environment: TS 6.5, OD 6.02
Scenario here is:
1) Development server(Teamsite) is on windows.
Hence i am planning to install OD Base and OD admin on Development server
2) Production server (Live Website) is on solaris
I am lanning to install OD Receiver on solaris.
I want to know if i want to deploy files from the Teamsite on Windows to the solaris box holding the actual website what are the configuration that needs to be done. Will the Solaris accept the folders and files from the Teamsite windows environment???? because the file system for windows and solaris is different.
Any help is highly appreciated
Thanks in advance
Regards
Jitendra

I believe you've got it correct.
Are you having problems - or just trying to verify this information before attempting the actual deployment?
You need to configure the odbase.xml and odnodes.xml on the BaseServer and the odrcvr.xml on the Receiver.

Hi fish,
Thanks for your feedback.
other than odbase.xml, odnodes.xml and odrcvr.xml , do i need to have anything else configured to make the deployment work from Teamsite(windows) to production (solaris). I will be installing solaris version of the OD receiver on the solaris box.
Teamsite(Windows) to Production (Windows) works fine but not sure about Teamsite(windows) to production (solaris)
i am about to start my installations and hence wanted more clarity.

The deployment configuration file itself may need to be tweaked for certain options like permissionRules that are different for Unix targets than for Windows targets - and obviously (I hope) the target area paths will be different - but the majority of the deployment configuration file remains consistent regardless of which platform you are using for your sender and/or receiver.
The best thing to do is to run the command with the '-sim' option first - to "simulate" the deployment and then look through the logs to verify that it looks like it would do what you want it to do. Then, after you're happy with that - run it without the '-sim' flag and carefully check the results (both in the log files and on the local disk of the target machine)
