special characters in 6.5

hi there,

Anyone can help to solve the special characters in ts 6.5. Basically I need to write back to my dcrs. After the writing in the dcr the dcrs will not be utf8 anymore. We tried this code it will convert the dcrs in utf-8 but it will return funky characters..

Any ideas pls.

my $xml = dcrfile;
my $inString = $xml;
my $ustr = Unicode:tring->new();
my $map ;
$map = Unicode::Map->new( 'ISO-8859-1' );###or replace ISO-8859-1 with whatever format you think the input is in
$ustr = Unicode:tring::utf16($map->to_unicode($inString));
$inString = $ustr->utf8;
$xml = $inString;
