Custom email templates

Hi all,

Any idea how to retrieve values set for components in forms in custom email templates?

For example,in my form i have two fields-description and comments.Whatever the user enters in these two fields should be entered respectively in the subject and the body of the notification mail. I am using custom email templates to send the notifications.

Process variables can be used to bind with these components and use them in the custom email templates.But not sure how to use these variables too in these templates.

Any help is highly appreciated.

You can setup/attach the form as a package in the workflow. Once that is done it will be available in your data tab to select and map fields from.

Go into PB and Tools>Process Properties

Under Data Create a new package definition

You should be able to see your form under the form pulldown (it needs to be installed).

Check visible across entire package

Apply and Ok.

Now it's available.

If you're like me, you change your form name for testing/iterations. Therefore it's best to pass the package name as a parameter in your workflow processor, in that way things don't break as you go along.

One more thing while I'm thinking of it.

Variable names on your email template cannot have underscores in them, if they do it'll show up as 2 variables in the data mapper.

Thus, $object_name$ will show up as object and $fr1 (or something like that) in the subject/body data mapper.

You'd need to call it something like $objectName$ instead.

Hi,

I am using SMTP activity template in my workflow to send email notification.My email body consists of a process variable which is mapped to a rich text editor field in my form created through forms builder.

The notification mail correctly displays the content written in the rich text editor as part of the body.But the content is displayed within the html body tag is displayed

eg: <body>content</body> is displayed in the email body

I need to remove this html tag.Cant find a way to remove this.

try to "switch" the method sending e-mail. Have a look this article:Configuring and Customizing Documentum Email Facilities. Pay attention to the 'Changing the Event Sender Docbasic Method'.

I have changed the Event Sender Docbasic Method to dm_html_sender.ebs.But the tags still appear in the notification mail.

The rich text component is required to be used so that the user has the control over formatting.The problem arises only with rich text component.When a text field is used in the form, it's content apears as it is in the mail without any tags.

When i manually insert html tags in the rich text component the output in the notification mail is as follows:

<body><body>testing</body></body>(i have inserted the body tag for testing)

I have tried the above case using dm_event_sender.ebs too.In both cases the tags appear.

If you useing Process Builder , you can create a HTML email template at Notification Tab and put your html at the body. For variable you can configure at $Variable. So that you can able to map it at next tab. Make sure you add the 'text/html' at content_type mapping
