We have a requirement where we like to create/manage all our digital media (image/audio/video etc.) in DCTM repository.But we do not like to use Media Workspace or DAM as front end UI. Rather we like to build a front end UI to meet the specific requirements.This is a business decision and we do not like to use Flex too as front end technology while we will be building our custom UI.
What are the options we are left with to build such an UI that will support RIA. Our initial thought points towards using :
Opt 1 :
A) a Java Script Framework like ExtJS, jQuery,DOJO,GWT etc. to build the UI components
Use DFS/REST (Native or CMIS) to deliver the digital content
OR,
Opt 2 :
Use just the mediaworkspace.war (DFS piece of it coming with media workspace) and consume its already written services from custom built UI (mostly JavaScript Framework like ExtJS, jQuery,DOJO etc)
But we could not conclude though. If you can provide some pointer regarding the feasibility of above or if you have any new idea, that will be also welcome. We will be looking for some recommendation. Our specific questions would be
A) In any case, which Java Script framework we should be using. jQuery or DOJO or ExtJS or anything else?
Should we use DFS or REST? Can we use CMIS (WS or REST)? Which one will be appropriate to use.
C) Opt 2 is an option at all? Is it feasible?
D) Any new/alternative idea to achieve this.
Any pointer will be highly appreciated.
