Need to enforce custom attribute to column display

hi!

We have a custom attribute called rf_number. Its of the attributes of a custom folder cs_folder. Anyone who has permissions to see this folder needs to see the attribute rf_number right beside it. So we need to enforce the custom attribute to the column display for all such custom folders created.

When the user goes to the location of the folders of type cs_folder, he needs to see the attribute rt_number by default.

We are currently still looking to see how this can be achieved. Please let us know if you have any inputs to share.

NOTE: Please see the pic attached so you can get a better idea of what we are looking for. This can be achieved at user level where each user has to make their own preferences for columns to appear. But we need to make this default for all users.

HI,

You can achieve this with WDK customization, look for objectlist and doclist components, there you can specify the desired columns, but this will always show the custom column, even for documents/folders who doesn't have the custom attribute, in those cases the value would be blank.

You can scope your customization by location, in this case I think it will not descend through subfolders, but you can do a test to check it. You would have to add every folder in the component's XML.

You can also scope your customization by type, but the column will be shown only when you're inside a folder of that type, and I think that's not the result you want, because I understand that your custom folder which has the custom attribute will be inside of a dm_folder. To solve this problem you would need 2 custom types for folder, the one who has the custom attribute, and another one who will always contain the former and will be used in the component's scope.
