Restricting Folders Count While Importing Using UCF in webtop 6.5

Hi,

In webtop 6.5 I am using UCF import for importing mulitple folders with its folder structure and its working fine. Now i need to restrict the folders count to avoid the performance issue.

The root folders count should not exceed 10.

Please guide me how to do it.

I dont have an answer to your question, but your requirement seems quite arbitrary. What happens if you have 1000 files under single folder. Setting root folder limit to 10 wont avoid your performance problem. If you are concerned about performance, you need to examine the real user scenario. Is it just one user that will be importing folders? How often is this going to happen? If there is a lot of files (1000s), Webtop may not be the best solution for this.

Thanks for your reply.

Many user will import folders and it will happen regularly. Maximum folder count is 20 and files inside each folder will be 50.So around 1000 files will be uploaded at a time.

And i have given maximim import files and folders as 1000 in the following xml file

importcontainer_component.xml

<max-import-files-and-folders>1000</max-import-files-and-folders>

Some time some files could not be able to uploaded. To resolve this issue I thought to validate by restricting total folders count including subfolders also. First validating the total folders count and second validating the total files count.

Instead of trying to customize, I would try to determine what is causing files not to be imported. Is it bottleneck at the app server or the database level? If app server, then you can just add more app server and distribute the load across them.
