Form data and dcr reusable ?

Hi,

I am using teamsite 6.5.

I have created a set of templates and dcr.I copied all the file's like presentation.tpl ,datacapture.cfg and dcr files to New Interwoven machine(different Server).Whenever i try to edit my old dcr files copied from old interwoven machine, i am not able to edit the data with the form, the interwoven system prompts to download the dcr files.If I create a new form using my new interwoven machine, i am able to work asusual (ie)the new files are editable using forms.But my old data imported from my old interwoven server cannot be edited with the form.How to solve this problem .Kindly advise

Whenever you copy your DCR from one machine to other machine, the extended attribute of the DCR will get lost. To edit the copied DCR in the new machine you have to apply the following extended attribute:

TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type=category/data-type

You can use iwextattr CLT to apply this attribute. To avoid this problem you should migrate the whole backing store to the new server instead of simple copying the files.

TeamSite has a mechanism to recognise your DCR's as *different* from any other XML file by using *extended attributes* these extended attributes get attached to any DCR which is created via a particular datacapture.cfg
that is the reason you can work with the new DCR's you created and not with your old ones.
The extended attributes are lost in a copy operation from file system

You can verify this by looking at the file properties (From IW GUI)

So, what you need to do for correcting this issue is, To use the CLT
iwextattr with the -s switch to set the TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type= attribute to your_category/your_datatype on all your old/copied over DCR's

my extended attribute is like this

TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type: templates/Home

so u are asking me to do a command line tool like this is it iwextattr-s TeamSite/Templating/DCR/Type=templates/Home.Is my syntax or command is correct.

Lets say if i have same templates/Home in another branch will my other files also will be affected.

So, what you need is a perl script to run a recursive loop for all your files,
Either supplied as a file list or *globbing* them from a supplied path

I tried it is working good.But the main problem is if i am having 2000 files i have to issue this cmd 200 times.Is there any easy way for this EA thing.Kindly Advise

Yes, OD has that option and there has been a lot of posting on how it is done.

I have mentioned in my post that you will need to script a batch job for that.
