DFC_DOCBROKER_REQUEST_FAILED error when the CS machine is connected to office LAN

Hi,

I have installed the CS 6.6 on my Windows XP SP3 Laptop.

If I let the laptop isolated from the LAN then things work pretty fine but if connect it with the office LAN it starts to throw the "docbroker request failed" error.

Please suggest the reasons and resolution to the issue. For your reference I have attached the repository log as well.

Would highly appreciate a quick turn around.

Please post your dfc.properties file (typically located in C:\Documentum\Config).

Do you restart your laptop when you connect it to your LAN? Since your docbroker.host value is your computer name (vs IP address), when you connect your laptop to your LAN, your computer probably gets reassigned a new IP address, therefore Content Server doesnt know how to communicate with itself any more.

I restart it without connecting to the LAN as restarting takes lot of time when connected to the LAN.

Will the issue be resolved if everytime I put the newly assigned IP address as the value of docbroker.host instead of computer name?

Yes. You will need to restart Content Server though when you change IP address, since this is cached.

No luck !! Replacing the host name with the IP Address did not do the trick.

Did you restart the docbroker? Also, you may need to restart your database as well.

Try to add a new line in your local hosts file:

if you are running on a windows worksation C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

IP address DDC1-LT-9445020

Restart the servisec.

Thanks all for the replies, but unfortunately none of the suggestions could resolve the issue. The below error messages keep adding up in the repository log file:

The issue is now resolved. Actually there was intrusion prevention software installed on my office laptop which was blocking the communication with the docbroker. I added the docbroker's port to the list of allowed ports and things started to work fine.
