How to get usage tracking for user login/logout to which application

Hello All,

I have requirement to track/provide the user usage tracking report, in which user logged in to webtop how many times from last 24 hours.

Any idea, I enabled the events like dm_getlogin and dm_disconnect..but report is not that much descriptive to know , log out done from which application like WebTop...

Is there any other way to achieve the same?

Are you on version 6.7? If so, look at EMC Asset Management and Planning (AMP) utility. If you are on older versions, the only way to tell which application a user is deployed from (without customization) is to deploy web app on different hosts.

Check out LIST_SESSIONS in DQL reference manual. It can given you a count of Active and Inactive sessions. That will give you a good overview of repository usage.

I would not use Brian's recommendation if you are planning to run this every 24 hrs. Unless you reconfigure your server to keep session longer than default value, inactive sessions will "die" and you wont get an accurrate reading.

True, but for that case look at "SHOW_SESSIONS"

Lists information about all the currently active sessions and a user-specified number of historicalsessions.

again see DQL Reference manual for details, in 6.6 and 6.7, might be in earlier versions.

Have see list_session embedded in a simple jsp page which a monitoring/reporting app can call, every few minutes. Resutled in an excellent set of graphs for each server, given counts of active and inactive sessions, per minute, hour, day, week, month, year.... I would guess then have 8 or 9 years of data their now

But if you have the money, on D6.7 and no in house developers, go with Johnny first suggestion. Products are well tested and will have more features added to them as time goes by

Hello,

Did you try getting infromation from the Domain Admin?

He should have all the information of the user's actions audited and are pretty darn accurate.

It is also easy to retrieve it from there as it involves minimum or no tweaking from our side.
