Retrieve content file path for a specific rendition

Hi,

I'm trying to locate the path in the filestore of the file associated to a specific rendition of a document.

My document has two dmr_content objects associated to it. If I use the getpath api command, I must specify the object ID of the dm_sysobject, and it returns only one folder path.

How can I get the folder path for the specific dmr_content file I'm interested in?

As long as I know, an object can have more renditions with the same format, and only a page_modifier is the difference. Try to request a PDF rendition multiple times for the same object (assuming you are using ADTS).

So if this is the issue, then use getPathEx2 DFC method on your sysobject.

Getpath accepts a format parameter, so if you have a pdf rendition, just pass "pdf" format and the server will return the other path.

Thanks Johnny. Here's the thing: both dmr_content object have a full_format property set to 'pdf', which I why I have to go to the filestore. Even in webtop, if I display renditions, it will show both PDF renditions, but always return the same one whichever link I click on!

Even both are pdf files, they have to have a different format (from within Documentum). You can set up custom formats within documentum that use the same file format (external to Documentum).

Try this dql:

select full_format from dmr_content where any parent_id = 'object ID of sysobject'

You should see two distinct values.

Yes, you are right, I do have two content objects with the same full_format and the same parent_id.

select r_object_id, full_format, page_modifier from dmr_content where any parent_id = '0900a047807501aa'

I'd like to find the specific file path for each PDF file.

Eventually, you hinted me in the right direction:

By the way, I looked at the definition of the page_modifier property in the Object Reference Manual: "User‑defined string to disambiguate renditions having the same format that are associated with a particular content page of a document."

So, I guess that each full_format/page_modifier combination should be unique (and not either of them separately), although it may not be enforced by the system.
