How to get values from incoming mails from Email Inbound Initiate activity

Hi All,

For SMTP outbound activity if we want to send a mail with the workflow parameters that is process variables values by denoting ‘$variable_name’ we can get the variable values.

Like this do we have any method to get the specific values from incoming mails subject or body which we get from email inbound initiate activity.

Yes I agree. But mapping body or subject will give the full string values. But my requirement is getting a specific word from the body or subject. And map to variables

No this is not possible, you can develop custom BOF module for extracting special values from the email but can you explain what is your requirement, maybe we can suggest an alternative.

If your requirement can be accomplished using string manipulation, then do some string manipulation in the mapping itself.

Hi,

I have to create a workflow having an Email inbound initiate to file the emails in Documentum.

Here is my requirement:

An e-mail account will receive lot of mails and it may have attachments and some may not have.
Have to fetch all the mails and have to file it in different location according to mail subject value or from body value in the workflow.

For example consider ‘case_type’ is a string attribute and using in mail it can be in subject or body.

According to the values of 'case_type' we have to file it in specific folder.

So to be a perfect solution where can I use the 'case_type' in the mail?

In the subject or in the body of the e-mail or any where else.

And if subject of the mail is like

"Testing the mail 'case_type' for demo"

" 'case_type' Testing the mail for demo"

How could we exactly fetch the 'case_type' value?

Give some suggestions on this

It would be good to have case type in subject, since subject can easily be mapped to a process variable. You can then write a custom method to check value of case type..
