Adaptors

hi everyone,

I am able to get values from repository using datasource adaptors. I want to display that values in a textbox in a form while initializing.

My Question is : Is it possible to display those values in a text boxes?

Please give me your suggetions

Hi sampath,

This Data source adapater you can use in both E-form and Task form. If you want the values should be populated in a text field do the followings:

After completing the creation of adapter as mentioned above

Drag and drop a text field
Go to Special Tab of text field properties
There enable the check box "Execute adapter when form initializes"
You will get Data source drop down select your adapter 'Employee'
Select the output data (Output Type) which you have given while creating adapter
Then select which value you want from the output list. Employee name or employee id or employee summary

Save the form install it and check it

In Documentum Form Builder we are having a requirement which we are not able to execute.

We are having a form called as an Employee form, when ever a user login and opens the Employee form then that form should be able to populate the employee details retrieving form the docbase based on the employee Id who has logged in.

Please can you provide us a sample adaptor which will retrieve the data from a custom attribute and populate it in the form based on the empid of the employee who has logged in.

You can create data source adaptor like that

Adaptor type - Data source

Class name- com.documentum.xforms.engine.adaptor.datasource.docbase.IDocbaseDataSourceAdaptorService

Type - SBO

Initial parameter - Add

Name - dql
Value - write your query like that -select employee_name,employee_summary from em_employee where employee_id in (select r_object_id from dm_user where user_name=USER)

Output type - select output type from dropdown too then add you atributes like that

Then add read only table to form

Go special tab of readonly table

then Data & Storage tab
select adaptor from External data source dropdown list,Row selection,value,display too
now it is ok

Hi Elchin,

Thank you very much for your post.

We are able to follow all your steps mentioned in the above post by creating a template adaptor by using the below query in the adaptor.

select user_name, user_address from dm_user where user_name='xcpuser'

we have created a form with 2 text fields as show in below screen and as suggested by you we have taken a read only table and once we go to the special tab we are not able to see the use adaptor field and in data binding we are getting the data shown in below screen which is not matching with your screen shot.

Please could you let us know why do we need to take the read only table as we need the data to be displayed in the text fields mentioned above.

The form builder version we are using is 6.6.

Please could you help us to resolve this issue.

If you have any guide regarding these adaptors would be much helpful for us.

Hi Sampath,

Your component is 'table' not read only table

Readonly Table is easy for use if your query returns more than one result

but for one result use text field as Arun mentioned

Is there any possiblity to get employee id from the dm_user type into the form textfeild which is readonly. where employee id is the login id ( Technically user_login_name ) of the employee who logged into the application. Based on the employee id we need to populate other feilds in the form.

Yes it is possible
1. Create Data Source Adaptor

(Initial Parameter Name- 'dql' , Value - select r_object_id from dm_user where user_name=USER - this query will return r_object_id of dm_user who login in )

2. Add texfield to form and select adaptor as shown above

İf there is input parameter in your employee adaptor you must select the binding of 'user_id component' from dropdown list in Data&Stogae tab of 'employee component'

Error executing adaptor. Please check the adaptor setup and requirements.

This query works,you can test it in DA,

May be something is wrong with your adaptor configuration
