Impleneting Multi Lingual sites
rohitspathak123
Hi ,
I want to implement same website in two language
1. English
2. French
All the structure of the two site is same , except the Language .
How do we go for implementing such sites .
The content entry for DCTs for these two sites will also be in different .One in French & one in English .
What I thought was that ...we can have two separate branches ..one for english & one for French . Can we have two separate encoding for two different branch .
Regards
Rohit Pathak

If the sites are separate then go for two branches. If the sites are tightly linked (you have a single set of bilingual editors who write/translate both French and English versions of each page at the same time) you might want to consider a single branch and having "French" and "English" containers in your DCT.
On the encoding front I'd probably just have both sites running UTF-8. DCRs save as UTF-8, encoding the entered text as UTF-8 in the process. Set the HTML character set meta tag to UTF-8 and everything should be happy.
You don't say TeamSite version or platform, but in general your main issues will be around the server local. If your running in English (English_UnitedStates.US-ASCII@Binary) and people start saving files with odd French characters you could have problems (see Admin Guide).
