<viewoptions showtree="t" /> overiding this option

iw_store

Hi ALL,

I have a Requirement :

<viewoptions showtree="t"/> when you mention this option in templating section for DataType, corresponding DCR will have left frame with a Tree-Structure, i have to overide this option so that in Left frame i have to show an image.

Instead of that tree in Left Frame How can i display a image ??????.

ENV : Ts 6.5 WIN 2000

Thanks in advance.
Sanjeev.

I don't believe there is any [supported] way to override the functionality / display of the left-hand navigation tree for DCTs.
You might be able to hack some Interwoven JSP code to do this - but that would be completely unsupported.
If you feel this is a short-coming of the product - file a feature request with support.

Hi Ghoti,

It is possible to do, my team mate has acheived this.

I didn't say it wasn't possible - I said I didn't think it was possible to do in an officially supported manner.
If you are saying that it can be done in an officially supported manner - perhaps you (or your team mate) could provide some details?

we even changed the stysheets for TS 5... but that was obvuously a non-supported way. I would be also interested to see how this is done

Greg,

Write some html that displays your image. Then override the default treeFrame src with your html by calling the following function when your form loads:

function customTreeFrame() {
 if (parent.datacapture.isDatacaptureLoaded) {
  var iframes = parent.window.document.getElementsByTagName("iframe");
  for (n=0; n<iframes.length; n++){
   if (iframes.name == "treeFrame") {
    // change the following src value to your custom html page
    iframes.src="http://www.google.com/";
   }
  }
 }
 else {
  setTimeout("customTreeFrame()",500);
 }
 return(true);
}

NOTE: this code has only been tested with:
SERVER: TeamSite 6.1 / Solaris 8
CLIENT: XP Pro / IE6

This seems an interesting, relatively clean, but still unsupported manner for doing this.
Interwoven can always change the way they implement the navigation tree, or change the name of the iframe, etc. However it would seem "reasonably safe" to go this route as long as it's well documented which parts are going beyond / beneath the API to acheive the desired functionality.
