Identify what records have missing custom metadata

Is there a sql query or easy report that I can run to identify what images are missing custom metadata that we created?

Generally direct SQL queries are not recommended because they circumvent the existing security structures and also depend on details of the data representation that are subject to change. For example, unless explicitly coded around a naive SQL search would find deleted assets as well as obsolete versions of assets.

Metadata field "does not exist" is an available search criterion via the API. You could use one of the clients to figure out what other criteria are of interest (such as starting folder, possibly limiting by asset type, etc.), and then if you could narrow down exactly what you are interested in I could try to help get one of our script people to illustrate how it would look via a script.
