Migrating Content

Hi All,

We are facing one issue while installing DAR file which contains pdf document, ACL and custom objects. As per our design, after DAR installation existing documents should be overwritten. But the issue is, as the number of pdf documents are large, Composer is not able to overwrite and creating new objects.

I have come to know that is the limitation of Composer.

I am thinking to use dump and load approach. Can you please let me know, if I use this then every time it will overwrite the existing documents?

Please also let me know if you have some other idea?

Hello Sumanta,

We do use DAR which includes large amount of documents (PDF and XML documents) and we never faced this issue. However we have created two separate DAR one which include basic artifacts like ACL, Types etc. and second only include content and have defined installation options to assign correct ACL/location/owner of documents installed by second DAR and it always Overwrite the document.

You mentioned that you came to know it is Composer limitation, can you please confirm if this is confirmed by EMC support or read anywhere ?

Can you please let us know how many document/ approx. size of document you are trying to install with composer.

Issue we are facing with Composer is - if there are multiple documents with same name within a folder, then Composer is not able to overwrite content after DAR installation.

We have raised ticket with EMC support and they provided this input as root cause.

This makes sense. If we have more than one document with same name at same level then this is an issue.

What is the business requirement to have more than one document with same name at same level ?
