Webtop Advance Search Performance

Dear Experts,

We have performance issues whiles searching documents from advance search (No Full Text), and also need experts advices if any required on my below business scenario.

This is the new system (migrated form other content management system to documentum)

Total documents are migrated around 40 Million documents (~20TB)

Q1). Now when the user want to search a single document from advance search (based on account number -custom attribute) it's tacking 2 min to disply the results (compare to their old system this is very slow, old system showing in 10 to 12 sec)

Q2). Users are asking total count in the search results page(because we are showing maximum search results to 500 due to performance)

I don't know y webtop not picking next batch of documents(next 500) once I reach to 500th document (that means last page)

How can we meet this showing total count (whit out impacting performance), why because when query from DA select count(*) from signature_card' its tacking 5 min to display count (which is ~10M)

Try the query in a DQL tools to search documents based on account number for example (select * from xxxx where account_number='xxxx').

Does it takes the same time as the Webtop search ?

If so, it's not a problem with Webtop but with your db. Try to add some indexes.

On Q2, the best way to get support for count as well as "infinite" paging (i.e., see result #5000 of a large result set) is to use xPlore. With xPlore, you don't need extensive tuning of the RDBMS indexes to cover a variety of searches. Besides you get advanced linguistic operators and even support for fuzzy searches (misspelled terms).
