How many maximum user can able to connect to repo from webtop

Dear Experts,

We have 3000+ user's (Windows Environment), is there any limitation from doucmentum side ?

Is that means 3000+ concurrent sessions required?, If yes, I saw in admin guide that indicates The maximum number of concurrent sessions is dependent on the operating system (1024 for Windows systems).is that means only 1024 user(all active sessions) can able to connect to repository ?

Hi G1,

As the guide says it is dependent on the O/S and underlying RDBMS. If your RDBMS can provide 3000 concurrent connections, you can setup 2 more additional content servers and connection brokers and cross project each of them. Setup 3 application servers and update your dfc properties in application servers to have each one of these to be primary and rest two as secondary brokers. Also you would need a good load balancer on top of your application servers.

In addition to what Siva suggested, I would also see what your app server can support. I know 32 bit tomcat will probably not be able to handle 1000 concurrent users. You will probably need more than 3 app servers.

2 Websphere application servers (We are using hardware switch for LB application servers)

2 Content Servers (Windows\SQL) [Installed on LB Mode]

@Johnny, admin guide states 1024 sessions means that per app server ? I mean if I use 3 app servers can I get 3072 session ? if I’m wrong correct me.

I believe the 1024 session reference has to do with the Content Server (which guide and page# are you talking about). The content server caches session info for each user. The app server also caches information, but at a web app level. The web app level caches more information, so I we typically have more app servers vs content servers.

Hi Jeevan. 1024 is the maximum number session per Content Server. If you need more concurrent session, you need a second content server. Please be also carefull to the number of session your database can handle.

Hi,

It is based on physical low level connections like port,filehandles etc opened by the Operating System. As you can see that this limit changes per O/S

"The maximum number of concurrent sessions is dependent on the operating system of the server host machine. For Solaris and AIX platforms, the limit is 1022. For HP-UX, it is 2046. For Windows systems, it is 1024."
