how to "pop" the prompt

Hi,

We are in process of developing an popup when user clicks on action buttons(finish/forward/reject) of inbox task, Popup modal window
asking "do you want to continue?". For which we are trying to use Prompt component.

I am using the following code in TaskMgrContainer:

But here prompt component is displayed as new page in same window. Please let me know how to open a window in
pop up mode just like message box.

please find below the approach I tried with CLOSE button on task screen which opened the prompt component in new window:

1. In task manager container JSP, instead of having <dmf:button> use <dmfx:action> something like:

3. define new action execution class, which will extend LaunchComponent and override the execute method somethig like:

component in this case will be task manager container component. So customize this component and have its behavior class implement IActionCompleteListener interface

4. In behavior class of task manager container component, following method needs to be implemented:

onComplete(java.lang.String strAction, boolean bSuccess, java.util.Map completionArgs)

Now, in your case you need pop up prompt for forward/finish/reject. here is what I believe you just need to make further changes:

1. in jsp, update action to define custom forward/reject/finish actions
and pass all the parameters which are currently passed including the one needed for prompt component i.e. i included for close task action

2. define 3 new action definitions for forward/reject/finish something like close task action but it will also include:
a. params to also include respective forward/finish/reject action params
b. include OTB precondition defined for repective forward/finish/reject actions (we need to include precondition class of respective forward/reject/finish to make sure they are enable/visible only when it applies)
let execution class remain same as close task action

3. update task manager container component class to implement onComplete method. based on input paramters "completionArgs" you can determine if user selected OK/CANCEL on prompt component and based on value of "strAction" input parameter of method you will know if user selected finish/forward/reject action and then can invoke action which is currently invoked in OTB JSP (using ActionService class)

Please unmark the previous "Correct Answer" so that fellow group members should not go ahead with that approach as that launches prompt in same window.

Hi,

setComponentNested will invoke the component in same window and not in pop up mode.

Here is what you can try:

1. make your custom component class to implement 'IActionCompleteListener' interface

2. implement method 'onComplete' (in this method, provide implementation similar to what you did in onReturnFromPromptInput method)

3. instead of calling setComponentNeseted, use ActionListener.execute method to invoke custom action to launch "prompt" component

execute(ActionService.ActionDef actionDef, ArgumentList args, Context context, Component component, IActionCompleteListener completeListener)

and pass the last argument as "this"

4. In the custom action definition XML, you can specify:

</modalpopup>

</invocation>

this should launch prompt in modal pop up

thank you for your detailed answer.i understood everything except 3rd issue.will i implement another interface?will i implement execute method?is it java.awt.actionListener?there is not any other actionListener in the environment.this interface does not include execute method?

It should be like:

ActionService.execute("abc",args,context,this,this);

instead of

ActionService.execute("abc",args,context,promptComponent,this);

And in action definition XML, definition for "abc" action will be something like:

it is component behaviour class.

please have it in container behavior class (get handle of container object and invoke its method, which should internally invoke action)

sorry, sorry, the class that invokes the action(TaskCompletion.java) extends a class that extends Container.but the same class(TaskCompletion.java) is also my component's(taskComplteioncomponent) behaviour class.:

TaskCompletion.java implements IActionCompleteListener,extends BaseClass

BaseClass extends Container.

as a result i think it is not only.i know that behaviour class of a component is specified in component's xml file.what about container behaviour class.i dont know about "container" issue.

what i meant was, if method is invoked from behavior class of task manager container (container are also component) which encapsulates the task manager component.
