Creating our own component in Object Modeler

Is it possible to create our own extendable worksite MP component in Object Modeler. We are currently extending a News component but this does not really fit our customers requirements.

Our requirement is to have our own extendable object (lets say) 'Product' from which we can create and extend instances of different products with very different metadata.

Ideally we would like to use a connector that can get and set our extended object metadata. The connector needs to be able to get and set other components extended data e.g. retrieve and update extended properties on a project. We've been trying to use the WOM to do this but open to suggestions.

If there is no way to achieve the above, how might someone adapt Worksite to achieve the same goal?

Object Modeler does not allow you to create your own "components". However, it will let you create metadata objects only.
