Need to implement a custom search form which will display results in an object grid

Hi,

I need to implement a custom search form(having text fields and drop-downs) which will display results in an object grid.

I will be making a custom button in Tools menu, which on clicking will show my custom search form. Users will fill the search criteria in these text fields and drop-downs. On hitting the search button, the results should be displayed in an object grid fashion. Can you please guide me accordingly !

I have created a custom component. This custom component xml has the start page (jsp) defined. This jsp has the custom form elements (text boxes and drop down boxes). User enters the search criteria and hits the search button. My custom component class picks up these form element values and passes them to the search60 component. Below is the custom component class code:

onClickLink method is called when the users click the search button (this call is done in the custom jsp). The problem i am having now is that i get the below error:

Please can you help me to resolve this ? I have tried with below custom DQL as well as below simple DQL, but, it still doesnt work

Custom DQL:

select object_name,r_object_id from ff_shipment_doc where shipment_nbr=''
UNION
select object_name,r_object_id from ff_movement_doc where any shipment_nbr=''

select object_name,r_object_id from gi_invoice_doc where any gi_shipment_nbr=''
UNION
select object_name,r_object_id from brokerage_doc where any shipment_nbr=''

Simple DQL:

select r_object_id,r_lock_owner,a_content_type,r_content_size,r_object_type,owner_name,i_is_reference,i_is_replica, r_assembled_from_id,r_has_frzn_assembly,a_compound_architecture,object_name from dm_sysobject where owner_name='dctm_sw_dev'

Hi,

In case, you aren't able to see the error screenshot, then, below is the error which i get :

The search has failed:

- utiecm : Invalid full-text syntax. OR, AND and NOT are reserved words, regardless of the case. Use quotation marks to search for these words. Left and right parentheses with intervening spaces can be used for grouping (with AND or OR only, NOT cannot be applied before a parenthesis). Example of a VALID syntax: A OR ( B AND C NOT D ).

Hello,

The words such as and,or not etc. are special keywords that are used by advanced search.For example in advanced search box if you type "Advanced and search" that list all documents that have both of this words, "Advanced" and "Search" inside of them.But sorry I am not much aware of this Please read "Documentum Search Development Guide, Version 6.7 SP1 (pdf)" which can guide you.

The problem is not with the search criteria. I can confirm this because I have run the above simple DQL query, but, I get the same error. Thanks for your help !

I have resolved the above error now. I have now commented the queryType which means queryType will now be null. See below.

Now, query runs but never returns any search results i.e. always there are 0 rows returned. Do you have any idea please?

Have you tested the query in dql if it returns any results?

When you search something in default serch does it return results?

I have run the DQL also and it does return many rows.

Can you try with a simple query for example, select * from dm_document and to find out if the problem is with your query or with your custom search component. What error message do you have in your app server log?
