How can I make a custom type (in a large custom tree) OBSOLETE?

Hi,

I need to hide some object types not to show in the dropdown list for Object Types in Webtop Advanced Search screen. In the forums I am told that by making that object type OBSOLETE one can hide that type. We are using DCTM/Webtop 6.7. My question is how can I make a type obsolete?

Please share your knowledge and experience.

In my experience, we have extended the advsearch_component.xml to add the tag <includetypes> and specify the list of the object types that need to be made visible in the search screen and get rid of the ones that need to be hidden from user.

Hide the 'not required' object type by altering Advanced Search screen Component, if there are not many object types.

If Many , fire Johnny's Query as a *.dql.

I trying your approach.

Our Object Model is like this:

ecm_document inherits from dm_document with some custom attributes.

Under ecm_document, the following eight (8) are the subtypes:

1) ecm_customs
2) ecm_customer_info
3) ecm_operations_mgnt
4) ecm_employee_info
5) ecm_fixed_assets
6) ecm_it_finance_procurement
7) ecm_financial_mgnt</includetypes>
8) ecm_inventory_mgnt

All the above subtypes have two (2) more levels of sub-subtypes. Each of the above first 7 subtypes need to show all of their subtypes of two (2) levels below.

The 8th one (ecm_inventory_mgnt) has a total of 11 subtypes and sub-subtypes. I need to hide two (2) of them and show only 10 (9 plus ecm_inventory_mgnt). I did the following:

I have a question. If I do "alter type my_custom_type set life_cycle = 3", can I reverse it if I want to? If yes how? Shall I run the same DQL with life_cycle=0 or 1?

Yes, it can be reversed. To undo, just set to 1 (currently in use). If you want more info, look in the Object Reference manual.

I did "alter type my_custom_type set life_cycle = 3" on one of our custom object type. I also did run DD Publisher job. That Object type did not show up in the dropdown list of Advanced Search.

Later to undo it I did "alter type my_custom_type set life_cycle = 1" on the same object type. I also did run DD Publisher job, but still the object type is not showing up in the dropdown list of Advanced Search. I am not able to undo it. How is it possible? How can undo it now? It looks like it is not reversible.

Please help me out.

Have you tried restarting content server? I have undo this in the past with success (not recently though).
