my company is planning to upgrade from a previous version of Teamsite 5.5.2 to 6.5.

Is there anyone who can tell me how this can be performed. What steps do I need to take so That i dont ruin the previous installation.

Consider getting a consultant, if you need to ask this question. IW can do it in 3 weeks
typically.

There is a lot of documentation on the upgrade. Read it. Some things will go easily, like
workflows & templates. Others will be a pain, like GUI customizations. You will also be
upgrading OpenDeploy and any other products, so what are you using ?

BTW, the templating VFE is also upgraded, so that is a change.

Our Company has a limited budget and so we are planning to do it ourselves.So we just need to know what basic precautions we need to take before we start the upgrade other than backup. and what configuration files we need to make changes to. If you can provide with even a little article or documentation for upgrade. it would be really helpful.

UICG for 6.1. did contain a list of issues that need to be considered during upgrade.

namely, as nipper said, custom menu items are the main stumbling block. CGI callouts in templating need to be revised, if any.

However, I would also second nipper that doing the upgrade yourself is really hard if you are asking this kind of questions. You may as well consider hiring an independent consultant, like myself on nipper (do not consider this as a blatant offer of services, please Smiley Happy

), we charge much less than IWOV does ....

The consultant will conduct an audit of your system and will come up with an upgrade plan.

Also, usually it's not only TeamSite that needs to be upgraded. Most likely you'd need to upgrade OpenDeploy.
