Hi Experts,

When trying to get document from documentum using dfs we are getting the follwoing error.

com.emc.documentum.fs.rt.ServiceInvocationRuntimeException: Could not get content as file: "Content{format='pdf', pageNumber=0, renditionType=PRIMARY}".

From Datapackage object we are using getAsFile as below

model.setDocContentFile(dataPackage.getDataObjects().get(0).getContents().get(0).getAsFile());

This was working fine suddenly from past two days its not working and got errors as mentioned above,

The reason can be different for different situations. It will be helpful if you can print out the whole error stack. This error happens when DFS client runtime fails to transform the content (from binary, url or streaming) into a local file.

And it will also be helpful if you can provide following info:

DFS client/server version?

Content Transfer Mode?

Remote or local service?

ACS Available?

UrlReturnPolicy?

Hi William,

My Environment:

Content server 6.5 sp1

DFC Version is 6.5.0.038

Remote service

ACS is available and getting this result "ACS Server is running" when checking through browser.

Content Transfer Mode is UCF

Were I can find the UrlReturnPolicy?

UrlReturnPolicy is not applied under UCF mode so we don't need to care about it. It is strange that the cause of ServiceInvocationRuntimeException is not printed out.

I did not get much clue from the logs.

Would you please try to cast the content as UcfContent and call UcfContent.getLocalFilePath() to see if the path is null?

I could not able to cast content as UcfContent as the content is of UrlContent.

So I have cast content as UrlContent like below

UrlContent urlcont=(UrlContent) dataPackage.getDataObjects().get(0).getContents().get(0);

System.out.println(urlcont.getUrl());

I got the complete url for the file

Casting content as UcfContent got the below exception

There was somewhere wrong that you set content transfer as UCF but got a UrlContent. The inconsistency may have affected the content transformation. But UrlContent.getAsFile() should still work if the URL is not null. DFS will download the content from URL.

Would you be able to call the UrlContent.getAsFile() and print out the full stack trace if there is an error? <You can even hardcoded the URL into a new UrlContent object, the URL has 6 hours lifetime by default>

Will "baseServ.getServiceContext().setProfile(transferProfile);" populate the profile to objService? The other option is to set ContentTransferProfile in OperationOptions:

operationOptions.setProfile(transferProfile);

The remaining code looks good. It would be clear if you can capture the the SOAP request and response to see what mode actually takes effect.

HI Arun,

DFS dev guide has a section describing the content types affected by different factors. Obviously, if the content transfer mode is UCF, DFS always returns UcfContent. As in your case, UrlContent is returned, I guess UCF is not activated in fact. But in anyway, UrlContent.getAsFile() or getAsByteArray() should still work. We did not figure out the root cause since the cause exception of ServiceInvocationRuntimeException was not printed out. One example is, if DFS client wasn't able to resolve the host name of ACS server, the content download will fail.
