how to config notification and inbox

I am confused with mail configration in wsmp
I am now installing wsmp on my computer, my computer name is alex.exmpales.com, I just want to use wsmp for demo not for producation env.
after adding notification and james to server, I am uncertain how to fill the items:
in notification:
mailser name
smtp server,
account,
password,
in james:
server domain
dns server.
several quesitons:
1. do I have to fill "account/password" with admin account for smtp server? a common user is enough or not?
2. since I do not need dns server ,can I set dns server=alex.examplese.com and modify the hosts file in windows system folder.
3. when I add trustee on libaray manager, the email for trustee is related with inbox or not?
4. if we have another smtp server, do we have need james?
could you give me some suggestion?

1) You need to use an account that has rights to send through that SMTP server. Any account will do.
2) You could use the hosts file. I haven't tinkered with James in a while so it would be best to check the James/Apache site if it doesn't work as expected.
3) The email is not related to an inbox. Each inbox has its own address and isn't linked to any trustee by default. You could use a gateway filter on your mail server to route trustee mail to an inbox or copy inbox email to another email address. I hope that is clear.
4) You need James if you want to have the system receive emails.

for question 3, I am still not clear.
you mean the mail address in truestee profile don't work for inbox. then where can I setup every trustee's email address for receive mail? where to modify the default mail suffix for every truestee?

email address on trustees in library manager is for them to receive broadcasts or notifications, ie their 'normal'email.
