Please let me know which component I need to work on to control the length/size of an attribute usin

Hi,

I think we control the length/size of an attribute using WDK for Webtop. I think by modifying the JSP we can do so.

Can you please let me know which component I need to work on and what exact code need to be inserted in the JSP of that component and where? Please provide me more details.

Please share your knowledge and experience.

Why dont we just do all the work for you so that you can cut and paste and be done with it? It must be nice to not work and still get paid for it

Are you talking about the length of attribute on Properties page or the length of the attributes/columns under the folder contents page?

1st case: attributes component

2nd case: doclist component.

I am talking about the length of attribute on Properties page i.e. size.

Have you read the WDK development guide yet? I already told you which component to look at. There is also a WDK tutorial that shows you the various ways to customize components.

I am trying to deploy iTrace tool. I am stuck at step 3 (as shown below) during Deployment.

1. Extract wdk_itrace_tool_1.0.zip file in a local directory
2. Copy iTrace.jar to WEB-INF/lib folder of WDK webapp context
3. Copy the include and itrace folders and place them, as is, in the target folder of webapp context (<webapp-context>/custom)

It is not clear to me. The folder path is webapps -> webtop -> custom. Shall I place 'include' and 'itrace' folders in 'webtop' folder?

Please let me know.

Hello,

you need to copy 'include' and 'itrace' under webtop's custom folder directly, like:

webtop

|-custom

|-config

|-include

|-itrace

also, if you are working on Webtop 6.x version, use wdk_itrace_tool_1.1.zip instead of wdk_itrace_tool_1.0.zip

Finally I could deploy iTrace tool. Now I am trying to use it. I tried to use the screenshots given, but I failed to understand.

Hi,

This tool basically helps you to identify the container/component currently loaded. Say if you want to customize properties screen or want to know which component is used for properties screen, login to application open properties screen and press (Ctr + Shift + g).New window will popup which will provide information about current component and container like component id, exact file which defines this container/component etc.. So you would know which container/component needs to be looked into.

So basically it gives the same information as turning on FormInfoComments WDK trace level and turning off the modal windows in app.xml.
