Content migration of running portal to TeamSite
jkm
Hi Guys,
We are going to implement TeamSite6.5 + win2k3 for an already running portal. I did the pre study of that but I got confused about the html content migration to DCRs. We have the content in html/cfml pages and after migrating to teamsite this needs to be in the form of DCR and then from DCR we can generate the pages depending upon the template types. But how to create the DCRs automatically is the question ? I studies the IWOV articles for this but according to those article users needs to create the DCRs manually which I feel really a nightmare for users becasue in our portal we have approx 50000 pages and if for each page I put estimated time to 10 mins then it makes nearly thousand man days with lot many erros which is not an acceptable solution.
I am looking for some automated solution for this migration. Please points me to the appropriate approach for this.
cheers!!

There are some automated solutions available for this - if you are willing to spend some money.. Interwoven works with companies like Nahava that specialize in content migration. Using their tools, they can analyze your existing HTML files, categorize them and convert them into DCRs.
If you are looking to do it on your own - you'll need to find a way to map all of your existing HTML files to certain groups or categories of content based on type of content and presentation of content. These will hopefully map to the template categories and types in TeamSite. Once you have created the DCTs for these content types, you will have to write the necessary transformation script to take it from HTML to XML and set the appropriate metadata (EAs) in TeamSite annoint the XML files as DCRs.

Thanks Sunil, for your reply
I went through Nahava migration whitepapers ... but budget constraint may limit us for tht..becasue 60% of our implementation cost is taken by IWOV products ;-)
probably we would like to write perl scripts with complex regex which I personally feel very much error prone becasue of break in links and contents but it will be helpful if someone can post any sample migration scripts to use for reference.
Any further ideas on content migration are always appreciated
cheers!!

Sunil,
have you ever dealt with Kapow? They claim to be able to use their 'robots' to convert into DCrs.. However I could not get anything concrete out of them...
