Is there a way to pull the data model in our system into a diagram?

Hi,

We have our about 70 custom document types in four (4) object levels in our production system. Is there a way to pull the data model in our system into a diagram instead of creating a Visio diagram manually which is tedious and time cosuming?

Please share your knowledge and experience.

DARs are based on XML so you can extract the information, transform it and present it in whatever format you want. Eddie Doey has an example XSLT at http://paulcwarren.wordpress.com/2009/05/29/dardocs/ that summarises the object model in HTML format. If you prefer something more graphical perhaps you could have a go at transforming to SVG or GXL (see http://www.graphviz.org/) - then publish it here to share with the community :-)

DRX is a good way to document a system and the object model. It won't pull it into Visio, but it will capture all the inportant information regarding the object model and more. http://sourceforge.net/projects/drxproj/.
