Using workflow activities using DFC

Hi,

I found that it is possible to start a workflow using DFC. But if I want to use just one activity in the workflow, is it possible to do that using DFC. Can I run just one activity, get the output back to my DFC code?

Kindly provide suggestions.

No - this is by design. Just add another automatic activity after the first activity and have it call dm_noop_auto_method_java server method.

But I think I should clarify a bit more. I have a process with, say 10 activities. And it represents an end to end functionality. Now, I am writing a DFC module and I would like to 'reuse' one of the activities (start activity) in that process. I can do the 'WorkflowBuilder.runworkflow' to run the entire workflow which I do not want. I want to access (and run) only the first activity of the process and get the output back to DFC. I dont want to continue the workflow after the first activity.

I assume that this is not possible. But would like to be sure before abandoning the idea.

Define a reject flow from the first activity to end point and in your server method select the reject flow as next activity.

Ok. I agree that this would be a workaround.

But my initial requirements of 'In DFC, reuse just one activity from a pre-defined installed process without having to change anything in the process itself' is still not satisfied.

Create another process template and insert (aka reuse) the original activity now you dont have to change the original process template. You can share dm_activity objects across multiple process templates.

Even that is not an option. I cannot change any of the existing dm_process or add new ones.

I am creating new functionality using DFC only. Since I saw that I could trigger a workflow from within DFC, I was wondering if I could trigger just individual activites instead of an entire workflow. What I can do now is to see how the activity does what it does (BOF/DQL etc) and replicate the same functionality somehow in DFC.

What does this one activity do that makes it viable to run outside of the full workflow?

Is the activity a manual activitiy or an automatically activity? If its the latter, then you can try to call the server method directly. If its the former, then you are out of lock. You can only launch workflows; you cannot launch individual activities.
