Workarea Migration from ts552 to ts65

Hi All,

We are migrating from ts552 to ts65 and we also want to migrate workareas as it is. So while migrating we want to retain the permissions on workareas as it.I want to migrate workareas as we have given a lot of backend permisssions on the workareas and again manually setting permissions on workareas will be a lot of effort.
i have heard that there is some iwwamigrate tool which migrates workareas. But i could not find reference of this tool anywhere.
can anybody suggest me a solution or give pointers on the same?

You have a straight upgrade path from TS 5.5.2 + SP 6 to TS6.5,
In doing so, the backing store will still retain the permissions etc.
Just bear in mind that the backing store is updated (becomes 6.5 compatible) so, you can not rollback with the updated store.

Also, the CLT which you heard of is probably iwmigrate which you can use to copy whole branches across stores.

If you search through the Support site's upgrade "toolkits" - you'll potentially find a script called iwcpwa or iwcopywa or something like that - which was used to record all the workarea information from a source TS server and then play-it-back on the target TS-server (in much the same way as the scripts for transferring EAs were written)

If you're actually *migrating* from a 552 server to a new 65 server - that should work.

However - a better approach is usually to just *copy* the entire backing store from your 552 server to your 65 server (making sure that TS services are completely stopped before doing so) and the bring up the TS service on the 65 server - it will take care of converting the backing store to 65-flavor and all your branches and workareas will be there. (iwmigrate does not copy workareas - it creates

temp_workarea

's on each branch it migrates and used that as a state manager for the migration process - so if you're going to do multiple pass migrations - do not remove that workarea until you are completely done)

If you're on Windows - or were somehow using local-to-server userids or groups - you will probably need to use the iwidmap utility to fix SIDs and such for the backing store that was moved from one server to another (there are KB articles for this on the support site)

The other alternative is to go through an "upgrade" on the same server machine - but that requires that you have the right SP-level on the machine to begin with since the "upgrade" mechanism apparently only worked with certain SP's for 552. (if you're copying the 552 backing store to a new 65 server - the SP-level isn't (as?) important).
