problem with regenration of page

Hi Guys,
I created a tpl file which I am able to run through command mode but when I try to run the same using form publisher gui it just hangs.
When I select the jsp page and click on regenerate then it keeps on running and it doesnt come back and when I try to regenerate the same page using iwpt_compile it works fine .. how do I find wats happening when I run from gui ? any thoughts ?

First thought - post the PT.
Second thought - if you wrote the PT using XML, rewrite it using Perl
Thrid thought - if you're using Perl (even if using <iw_perl> segments within an XML PT) add debugging statements throughout the PT that dump information (at least line number information) into a log file so you can see if the PT goes into a loop or, if it hangs for some other reason - where it was last known to be okay.

It's called the brute-force method of debugging - narrow things down to where you can identify *where* something is going wrong, then bang your head against it until you figure out why (or how to make it work even if you never figure out why it failed in the first place).

I am able to fix it up but it was strange. I was calling one perl file in the tpl and there it was not able to parse one conditional statement

This was the statement :
if ( $dir_file =~ m#$var_200[0-9]\\$var.*\.jsp$# )

I am able to put this condition in different manner but still wondering why it was not able to parse this statement which seems to be perfectly right to me.

If I remove the second $var then even it works fine

Well, that's one of the more obscure regex's I've seen recently.
What are possible values of $var_200 ?
What are possible values of $var ?

You're basically saying that you want to match on varA[0-9]\varBanything_or_nothing.jsp(anchored-to-the-end), but it isn't clear if that's really what you wanted since you don't provide enough context for us to understand the code snippet.

Interesting code - you declare a subroutine initGetFiles(), which in turn calls getFiles() - but there doesn't seem to be any call to initGetFiles(). Was that part omitted in the posting? (if so, fine, just checking - but it makes it difficult to figure out what is getting shifted into $erpr).

You're passing arrays around, when you should be passing references to arrays around -- depending on how big the list is, you could see some decent performance improvements by fixing your code in that respect.

getFiles() has a significant problem in it, as I alluded to before:...

}The string $erpr_200[0-9] indicates an array @erpr_200 from which you are accessing the negative-ninth element [0 - 9 = -9], which is the 9th element prior to the end of the list.
What you want is something like: if ( $dir_file =~ m#${erpr}_200[0-9]\\$erpr.*\.jsp$# ) {Which says find a match for the contents of $erpr, followed by the string "_200" followed by a single digit from 0 to 9 followed by a back-slash (\) and then the same contents of $erpr followed by anything and finally ending in the string ".jsp"

Now - I'm not sure if just fixing that regex willl fix your problem - but it's probably a decent start in the right direction ...

True .. code to call initGetFiles is in tpl file ,and last time I pasted the code of my perl only ..being a quite large tpl file I am just posting the part of the tpl in which I am calling initGetFiles

Two areguements are passed :
pr and @contents -- pr and ev can be just two values and this arguement works like flag .. and @contents has list of the files and directories in the present directory
