Can I assign a default ACL to a custom type? How?

Hi,

Can I assign a default ACL to a custom type? There was an option under types. When I right click on the custom type I see Info tab under which I see "Default Permission Set". I selected the permission set, but when I created/imported the that type, I do not see that permission set is set to that type automatically? Am I missing anything. Am I required to go for TBO?

Please share your knowledge and experience.

CS automatically assigns default ACL to any object created in system based on default_acl property of dm_server_config (which is displayed as "Inherit Permission Set From" when you view property of Content Server in DA). For more details on this, please refer "The default ACLs" section under "Managing permissions" in content server fundamental guide).

please consider your system design before changing this value.

However, you have two more opotion to apply desired ACL to custom object, when it is created:

a. Override doSave method in TBO and apply ACL there (using isNew() check)

b. If you are attaching custom lifecycle to your custom type when it is created, you can use 'Set Permission Set' action in lifecycle definition to apply desired ACL to an object.
