We did it at my customer's site.
I'm not sure about "best practices" (I've only done it at one site) - but if you search the forums you'll find a bunch of my notes on the details of what we did and how we did it. You can also find posts detailing some bugs / feature requests filed against the 'iwgroup' CLT.

Overall - I think it's a good idea - allows you to move group setup from essentially a 3rd party Operations Staff to your [hopefully] local TeamSite System Administrator which can cut down on red-tape.

And good news coming soon ... this November, we launch BETA for TeamSite 6.7
(scheduled GA mid Q1 2006) which will introduce GUI support for creating and
managing TS users and TS groups.

Stay tuned for more on TS 6.7 - and if you're looking to use TS groups today, please
know that you'll soon find it easier than ever to create TS-specific groups and users!

A lot of people are eagerly awaiting DataCapture GUI with complete Templating functionality. Is that
going to be in 6.7 ?
