Need help in creating a method using Composer

Hi,

I am using Composer to create a simple method (Setting a custom attribute to a string value "Reject"). I am using Composer_6.7_User guide (Pages 119-121). Now I am looking at my method page, as shown in the attachment.

What goes in the text filed against "Command: "? The Composer documentation says "Command The command that launches the method." What exactly I need to type in fir Java method?

Also please let me know where the method code (may be java/dfc) goes in? I want to set a custom attribute to a string value "Reject".

Do you think it is the best practice to create a Workflow method?

Please share your knowledge and experience.

Hi,

In Command specify the fully qualified class name of the Java class. place java class files in following location

%DOCUMENTUM%\dba\java_methods. let me know in which condition you need to set custom attribue.

I will call this method in auto-activity in my workflow. Whenever I execute this method, it needs to set ecr_status attribute of my custom type ecr_document to a string value. By calling this method I need to update that attribute with value "Rejected" once and with value "Approved" another time. I can go for one method for each or only one method with a parameter. I think the 1st option is easy, but the 2nd option is the best because I will have only one method.

I think I am clear. Please let me know if you have any more questions and please give me the method code.

Hi,

you can use sigle method. create different auto activites, depends on activity name update custom values.

if you are using process builder, use DQL Write activity to update custom values, without writing auto activity.

We are using Workflow Manager. We are not using Process Builder yet. Do you think Process Builder makes my life easier? It takes a while to get it for me. I need to go on using Workflow Manager.

My biggest concern is where from I need to start. I started creating a method in Composer. I am held up at "Command" text filed. You mentioned that I need to give java class name there. Now I need to create one. Can you please give me the code for my purpose? I will create a method class for my purpose in the same Composer project. Also I think I need to import my custom type into my Composer project. Please give me some steps/guide lines to build what I need including the code.
