File Net In Basket and Queue comparision with Documentum Category & work queues

Hello All,

I have requirement of migration of File Net process to Documentum process.

In general, File Net have 52 In Baskets(based on business data) and for each basket have 4/5 queues (Pending / Experied / 2nd Index) etc....

Any one can throw some lights, how can I map with Documentum ? Category and Workqueue... or use some matching filter feature in Documentum ?

Need more details, but you may be able to treat "In Basket" as a workflow and queues as workqueues in the workflow.

In File Net for 51 In Basket based on the business data. For each basket File Net Queue for Pending , Wait and Common queue for all data.

a -Implement the Workqueue to implement based on business data, But my concern is Practically will be difficult to implement the 51 work queues in single workflow (means 51 manual task with separate worqueue as performer).

b - Should I crete 51 workflows for which , File Net have single workflow ?

Now If I go for work assignment matching fileter, in that

1. Can be Performace Issue (I saw File Net is ver fast to load workitem list)

2. I dont have maching Criteria for 51 business data.. all are unique data comes from Scaning solution.

Can you help me to understand , In what all area I need to for investigate to understandor design the Documentum Workflow ?

Very bad question, Do we have any tool which can help to provide atelast skeleton if we give input as File Net Process and it can provide out put as Documentum Process.

This is just for start.. I know exact process need to be designed by us only...

- This is implementation decision. Its rare to migration from one vendor to another and to expect 1:1 feature parity, which means that customer should not expect the same from configuration perspective as well.

- Read the xCP best practices guide. If I remember correctly, one of the things they say to do is to assign tasks to different workqueue based on other criteria if possible (eg data stored in SDT or package). Assignment matching filter executes when a user logs in, so if you "pre-filter" the number of tasks assigned to workqueue, you minimize the amount of match filtering you have to execute.

- I suggest you look at some of third party migration tools (eg Bulldoser and migration tool from Vitalpath).
